Two of my favorite locations for shooting engagement sessions are UC Davis and Old Sacramento. I have so many alumni of UC Davis who are my clients. If they live in the area they always seem to gravitate back to their alma mater for their engagement sessions. For Old Sacramento, I think most of my couples are astute enough to know the variety of textures and colors will add greatly add to the engagement session photos. For Jason and Erica it so happened she graduated from UC Davis and Jason liked the urban feel of old Sacramento. I had never in the same day used these venues together. So we all met up at UC Davis to see how we could “capture a day in the life” of shots of both Jason and Erica. The plan was to meet up at the Mondavi Center since it allows for the use of so many textures and colors as a back drop for most of my UC Davis shots. We get to the Mondavi and it is completely wrapped in white plastic. It literally looked like it was shrink wrapped by UPS ready for shipment to far off places. The workers told us the fascia of the building which is made of some kind of rock/marble was falling off in many of the places outside the building. It was time to inspect and replace the whole exterior of the Mondavi Center.
If you are a professional you always have a plan B. Jason and Erica were so easy to go in another direction, direction B. It was such a collaborative day as we all put our combined heads together to come up with the shots we did. This day did not feel like work at all. Everything fell into place and Jason and Erica were so accommodating. We had help from UC Davis construction workers we had help from the commuters of Highway 80 as they thinned out just for us as we went form one location to another, and we had the help of the sunset to give us a beautiful well lit canvas to work from. Oh and did I mention Erica and Jason were so easy to work with
I wish every shoot was so effortless and so rewarding with beautiful pictures. I think you will agree these two looked hot together and quite smitten with the love bug. Can’t wait till I get to shoot their wedding next May.
