Quinn Photography Blog bio picture

Welcome to my Blog!

Hello and welcome to my blog. My name is Bill and I am Quinn Photography along with my wife, Ruth and son, Tyler. I am a wedding photographer in Fair Oaks, California who specializes in capturing those emotional glimpses, relaxed moments, subtle details and the loving playful nuances between my awesome couples.

This blog follows both my personal and professional life, and features images from the weddings I shoot, the places I travel and the friends and family members that mean so much to me. It's basically like my own personal photo album combined with informational sources for my current and potential clients. This site is a little more informal and I just want to give everyone a sense of who I am, and what I am all about. Thanks for visiting. BQ

Sacramento Wedding Photographer/UC Berkeley Engagement Shoot

Mike and Laura both graduated from UC Berkeley some years ago. What brought them back to shoot their engagement shots here was for nostalgic  reasons-they both met here and fell in love at UC Berkeley. Every picture in this series has sentimental  meaning to them. From the streets of Berkeley, to the restaurants, to the University they all have special meaning to this cool loving couple.

I can’t say enough wonderful things about how our day started and ended. It is always a treat to have the couple treat you to a pizza, especially since the pizza represents the beginnings of the love fest between the two.  Zachary’s Chicago Style Pizza is where their love started and continues to grow. A slice of pizza and a Corona was all I needed to get the creative juices going. Of course it always helps to have extra imaginative people to help and Laura’s sister, Catherine, was the reason for such great and creative photos.  Well,  Laura and Mike helped just a little by being so cooperative and willing to do anything to get just that special picture.

Laura is one of those organized kind of people I hate-because I’m not. I didn’t have to come up with one idea. She had locations printed out, maps with stars corresponding to the locations and descriptions of the places all on two sheets of paper. Mike and I only had to make sure we showed up to film. Well I shouldn’t paint Laura quite like that. She was fun, spontaneous, beautiful and a good sport to try anything to get an unique picture for the day. The big picture was to have their special places serve as backdrops to all the photos. I think you will see some very familiar places of Berkeley somewhere amongst the pictures.

Here’s to Mike and Laura for such a great day of fun, posing, eating, drinking, brainstorming ideas and most of all being themselves-it was such a treat to be with them. Enjoy!!

Sacramento Wedding Photographer/Nestldown, Los Gatos

Michael and Maria’s wedding was held at Nestldown in Los Gatos. This weekend’s wedding was held under some of the best summer weather conditions a wedding can have during the day. Once the sun started setting the cool breezes kicked in and created a rather chilling time for the guest’s outdoor dining pleasure. The best part of the cold breezes was it allowed the evenings  festivities to start sooner with great music and wild dancing. We even were serenaded by a brass band made up of Michael’s friends who agreed to play a song for all those in the audience.

Nestldown is such a magical place reminiscent of an adult Disneyland. The Nestldown site was originally designed to be used by non-profit organizations serving disadvantaged or disabled individuals, or those in crisis/transition. It was developed to be used directly in support of the individuals whose needs they serve. As such, it is provided by the owners at no-cost or a very low cost to a limited number of organizations per year.

Nestldown was such a cool place to hold a wedding. It was made even more perfect because Michael and Maria are a couple made for each other through their sense humor. They are always each others biggest booster. They also serve to be on alternating giggles, each others straight man then comedian. Laughs filled Nestldown all day at every stage of the wedding day process. Michael always had a big smile on his face and Maria was always cutting up with a zinger or two to the listening audience of bridesmaids and onlookers. It really didn’t get too serious all day until the final vows were taken and then toasts at dinner came around. Harold, who is Mari’s father, shed a few tears as he gave a very emotional toast for Michael and Maria. A good father cry, a couple of I love yous and hugs to Michael as his new son-in-law were all he needed to get past the tears. Of course the audience was right there with him as all the parents knew of what he had to say and felt. The younger members of the party knew Michael was getting a great father and mother-in-law.

Cheers to Michael and Maria, may the marriage be a happy journey to your destination through life together. BQ

Sacramento Wedding Photographer/Underwater Fashion Shoot

Ty, my son, is my second shooter at weddings and we occasionally get together to shoot for fun. This was his idea of a fun shoot so we prepped the pool for a fashion shoot under water. All this was his idea and shot selections as well. I was his helper for the day. Boy was it fun to hang with some pretty girls and shoot with my son.

Sacramento Wedding Photographer/Arden Hills-Fair Oaks Serbian Church Wedding

The day of the Serbian wedding between Stevan and Goranka was so fun and joyous. It started with food and drink at Goranka’s parent’s house. The whole wedding party, the bride and groom, and family and friends stopped by to celebrate the wedding with a party to start things off. A live band played up lifting Serbian music to the delight of us all. A little food,  some drink and off to the Serbian Church of Fair Oaks for the church wedding.

Stevan and Goranka are two of the most caring people. In one of the most emotional groom  speeches I have heard, Stevan professed his love for Goranka and his sadness that his father didn’t live to see this day happen for his son. The pure love and emotion from Stevan was so real for me as well as all the guests at the Arden Hills Resort. The family of friends all danced the night away with the traditional Serbian line dances. It was such fun to see everyone get into the spirit of a real celebratory wedding party. Hope you enjoy the pictures!!

Sacramento Photographer/Crissy Field Engagement Shots

Nick and Lindsay love  San Francisco. They met there, worked together there and are now  engaged there. They are a couple that know the  places which have meaning to them, places that elicit fond memories which we built on for their engagement shoot this past Saturday.

The weather was  perfect- no clouds, no fog,  no heavy winds, no cold temperatures and best of all no Giants playing a home game at AT&T Park.  Nick and Lindsay are avid Giant’s fans so they wanted to have some pictures at the ballpark. You’ll get to see some from the ballpark area  in this set.

We arrived at Crissy Field at the golden hour and had the opportunity to have some fun. We ran into a visitor who was curious to our party and hung around for some shots much to our chagrin. We left Crissy Field and headed to the Palace of Fine Arts only to find it closed for renovation. The best we could do was take some pictures from across the lake from the rotunda.  I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I enjoyed Nick and Lindsay’s company.
