• Welcome to my Blog!

Hello and welcome to my blog! My name is Bill and I am Quinn Photography along with my wife, Ruth and son, Tyler. I am a wedding photographer in Fair Oaks, California who specializes in capturing those emotional glimpses, relaxed moments, subtle details and the loving playful nuances between my awesome couples.

This blog follows both my personal and professional life, and features images from the weddings I shoot, the places I travel and the friends and family members that mean so much to me. It's basically like my own personal photo album combined with informational sources for my current and potential clients. This site is a little more informal and I just want to give everyone a sense of who I am, and what I am all about.
    Thanks for visiting.

Marquardt Ranch Texas Hill County Outdoor Wedding

My wife and I have known Marjorie for-well all her life. She is the beautiful and erudite daughter of our very good friends Jon and Nancy Cone. They asked if we could do their daughters’ wedding and we jumped at the chance to do so. It was our total pleasure to document Adam and Marjorie’s wedding at the Marquardt Ranch in Bourne, Texas. Adam and Marjorie had a civil ceremony last year.  They wanted more-they wanted to have a formal ,wedding celebration in front of family and friends so they could share with everyone their love and commitment to each other and their daughter Addison. Oh, and they wanted to celebrate with all their Colorado School of  Mines  friends as well. It was so fun to have them at the wedding as they added some really fun elements to the festivities.

Families from California to Vermont to the Hill Country of Texas attended this joyous and fun wedding. Adam and Marjorie are the quintessential couple in love. They enjoyed every bit of the day casually, collected and cool. You might even see how cool Adam was in one of the pictures below. I think it has a tennis shoe near the front of the picture. Marjorie was as so easy to work with. She was easy to take suggestions and equally quick to understand the art of the pose.  Because of distance we didn’t get a chance to take she and Adam”s engagement shots. I always tell future brides it is their one chance to practice for your wedding pictures. Marjorie and Adam did just fine without the practice.  I would go further and say they didn’t need anything but the one thing they had between them-love!! Now enjoy the pictures and take a good look at the beautiful Marquardt Ranch and the wedding of Adam and Marjorie.

Japanese Tea Garden Engagement Session

Ok so Lance and Lisa are getting married next June in Santa Clara at this cute little historic house. They themselves are a cute couple as well. We arranged to meet up at the Japanese Tea Garden in San Francisco for their engagement session. I have done one other session there and I found it to be very tricky with how the light falls on the foliage and temples within the walls of the garden. We went inside and walked through the whole garden in order to find our light. Some of the pictures are not necessarily in the best light but reflect the scenery more than my super nice couple.

Lance is gong to be someone I’m going to get to know better. He works as a pastry chef and he’s one smart cookie as well. With an electrical engineering degree he discovered he really didn’t like the field of work which he was most qualified for. From his younger days he always liked cooking-so years later here he is,  my new best friend. I’m going to visit his establishment and check out our new relationship.:)  Now Lisa is the good looking one of the two. I told Lance that several times and finally he agreed. I told him to just chill and let Lisa shine. Lance is a smart guy-I think I mentioned that already. So now you get to see our day at the San Francisco Japanese Tea Garden and adjoining area. Enjoy!!!

Lake Natoma Engagement Session

Erica and Aaron are a cool couple. She knows Aaron so well. He’s a gentle giant with a big smile behind his gruff bearded look. She is one organized, together and focused lady. He is not familiar to being in front of a camera nor getting attention for a photo shoot. She is smart to take Aaron to Sudwerks for a couple of beers to lighten the shoot.  The combination of all the elements of making a good shoot was evidenced in the following pictures. A bit of fun mixed in with some good light, a wardrobe of three outfits, and of course multiple pairs of shoes with makeup and two glasses of beer-we have the makings of a great engagement shoot!!!

If was a pleasure to be with the both of them as we worked the north and south side of Lake Natoma to get the best possible light of the day. Our final shot on the footbridge happened just as the light was falling off into the horizon. A five minute delay most likely would have meant no bridge shot. Sometimes it works out for the best and Aaron and Erica were certainly the best in working together to get great pictures for their sign in book. Enjoy!!!

Sacramento Sheraton/Orchard Creek Lodge Wedding

Brent and Sophia are so meant to be with each other. They are of course in love with each other, but more than that, they actually enjoy each other. You know they like like each other. What’s not to like-they both are erudite, they both really clean up really well:)they both have a reservoir of deep understanding of each other. Oh and did I mention a sense of humor beyond compare. My day with the both of them went like a blink of an eye. It was so effortless to work with them. Even their bridal party was easy. That’s saying a lot because six of the eight in the bridal party including the groom and bride are attorneys. Go figure. I think they were there for all the right reasons so it made herding cats a non factor, they wanted Brent and Sophia to get their special day photographed with the utmost quality.

I’m a little ADD so I like to work fast and furious at times. When you know you have a deadline to get your work done in a reasonable amount of time plus have quality shots, one has to preplan and work fast. I wanted to have many textures and colors for backgrounds as possible. Of course the overriding criteria was to get into good light. We accomplished all that and more as Brent and Sophia added their personalities into every shot.  In another life they both were entertainers. They entertained me, my second shooters and of course anyone within ear shot of their witty humor. Brent and Sophia will be life long partners together. They started that journey with the wedding vows. Now comes the happily ever after daily as they go through life together enjoying one another trying to get the last pun or joke in for another good laugh.  I laughed all day with the two of them-hope you enjoy the merriment of the photos too.
