Once a year our Marinership from church goes on a couples retreat for fellowship and to hear how we can strengthen our marriages. This year we went to Lake Tahoe and spent our time together to learn the differences between men and women. One of the references our moderators used for information was the book men are like waffles and women are like spaghetti. I didn’t capitalize the book title because I’m not totally sure the title is completely accurate. The gist of the book and a dvd we watched was men have boxes and one in particular is called a safe nothing box. Sort of like when he is totally watching a sporting event and you can’t get his attention. He is in his box. Women on the other hand are all wired together-emotions, thought processes, verbal skills, sight, you get it-they are very in tuned with what is going on and they rarely are checked out like men. Ok, this isn’t even close to all the information from the weekend but this is what I got out of it. I love my safe box and use it often. I just didn’t know what to call it before the conference. By the way the total years married in our group is 345 years spread over 14 couples. We are one of the babies in the group with 24 years. Here’s hoping all the spaghetti heads and waffle women keep putting the time and effort to make their marriages the best they can be.
