Great weather and a great trip

Ruth and I really enjoy hitting the road to visit new destinations. After twenty four years of marriage there aren’t too many places we haven’t visited but Half Moon Bay is one place we needed to spend a little more time. Since we had no weddings or engagement shoots till next week we took off on a trek to the coast.

In Half Moon Bay there are a lot of eating establishments. We like eating our way through many towns and this one was no different. One noted eatery is called Sams. On their menu is a sandwich called a lobster roll for which they were chosen by the Today Show as one of the top five sandwiches in the US. We had to have one. Yummy!!!!

We not only ate at Sams but we also hung out there as they have a nice set up with lounge chairs facing the ocean in many numbers so before a meal or after you can sit back and relax. We did.

Our next destination was the Ritz Carlton in town. It has been around for a few years and it has breath taking views of their golf course and ocean. We explored their bar,  cost us  $7 for a coke. We also walked the public coastal trail through their property. Since the property blocks public access to the beach they had to mitigate the blocked access by building a public parking lot and provide a sidewalk all the way to the beach. The premises are to die for but I think the location is so isolated that they may have a hard time making it in this economy. Time will tell. In the meantime it is a place we might stay at just for the fun of it.

Did I tell mention we like to eat? We read of a place called Duartes located in Pescadaro. It is an inland farming community with a main street one block long. Not much going on except the bakery in town has quite scrumptious breads  and Duarte’s Tavern serves the best artichoke soup, cioppino and olliberry pie in the world. Whew what a pie!!!

Our last stop was the Golden Gate Bridge. We loved the views. Oh, I did take  wedding pictures as there was a bride and the groom having their couple’s shoot on the hills overlooking the bridge. Hope you enjoy the pictures.
