Fourth of July Friends

Ruth, Ty and I have been going to Graeagle for the same weekend for over twelve or thirteen years. It is our family tradition to go rent a room or cabin and start the summer season with a visit to Graeagle for several days. Unbeknownst to us another family just down the street with four children had the same tradition. One of their children, Lauralee went to the same junior high school as Ty. To digress, as fate would have it, they ended up being selected to represent their school on the Science Olympiad team. The team was very successful and represented Northern California in the national competition in Spokane, Washington. During the competition Ty and Lauralee got to know each other better but better than that we got to know Lauralee’s father Norm very well. Well the team did well enough to be in the top 25 of all teams in the United States. Well done and a good way to end 8th grade on a high note. Summer comes and as usual we go up to Graeagle in June. Of all things we run into Norm and some of his sons at a miniature golf course. It was from there on our lives have forever intertwined. In high school Lauralee and Ty became boy friend and girlĀ  friend. The Browns and the Quinns now spend our last week of June both enjoying the beautiful sights and smells of Graeagle together. We celebrated out ninth year of the two families vacationing together. Small world!!!

The Browns have a tradition of blowing up their Christmas ginger bread houses every Fouth of July. They are the best houses when finished but pretty messy when scattered all over the drive way.
